Tomypak Flexible Packaging Sdn Bhd opts for an EVO XD
Tomypak Flexible Packaging Sdn Bhd was founded in 1979 and is now one of Malaysia’s leading converters for flexible packaging. The company was first listed on the Malaysia Stock Exchange in 1996. Over 400 employees specialise in the production and converting of flexible packaging for a raft of prominent customers. The company solely operated gravure presses until now. Following an extensive selection process, largely managed by Carina Shia, the company opted for an EVO XD and has subsequently expanded its product portfolio in flexo print. The press is scheduled to be delivered in the third quarter of 2018.
The rise of flexo printing
Flexo printing has a global growth rate of four to five per cent, and it is even higher in some regions. Improved print quality, based on mature pre-press and press technology, plays a key role. “We have a cutting-edge and extensive portfolio especially for our customers active in the growing packaging market. “Together with our partners in the industry and our product range, I am certain that I will be able to win over many customers with this technology,” says Carina Shia. Moreover, it is a key advantage that flexo printing inks contain a lot less solvents than gravure especially seeing as environmental protection is slowly gathering speed in many regions. This is an important factor not just for the environment, but also for the press operators.
